Little Kids, Youth and Adult Programs

Philosophy

Master Jacob Park strongly believes that every single person has within them the full potential to be an amazing and kind-hearted martial artist with the ability to overcome any obstacle in life.  His teaching philosophy is very straight forward and clear: treat everyone with respect and courtesy and always encourage each other with humbleness – and without competition to be better than another.  This is where he really wants to focus on teaching his students – to be a humble person and live with a positive attitude.  With unlimited patience, all students will learn and take the learning within their heart.  Master Park demonstrates this to the students personally rather than just saying it words.  He believes in a positive teaching style, and does not employ the old traditional strict and sometimes demanding Korean style of learning Tae Kwon Do.  He fully believes that positive will create positive and negative will create negative. His positive encouragement, and that of his Instructors, will encourage all students, even as they face difficulty in learning techniques, to not get discouraged and have an indomitable spirit.   When students make a mistake, we encourage them to happily admit their mistake and keep trying to be better with a positive attitude.  This will help all students to be the best martial artist they can be.

Little Kids Program Focus (3-7 year old)

Little kids should not be expected to act like a full grown person.  Since they are young and growing they might have less attention span, listening and understanding skills are developing, and strength and overall coordination is not fully formed yet.  However, they have an innocence and eagerness to have fun while learning.  We believe in harnessing the ability to have fun, to make Tae Kwon Do enjoyable, and to encourage learning in a positive environment.  This will be the foundation for a passion in Tae Kwon Do and building their skill level as they grow.  This means that even though they might not perform impressively like bigger kids or adults, they are ready to have fun and learn in a friendly environment.  Our Instructors are always focused on teaching based on the kids comfort level with a fun and positive environment.  It is not our way to constantly correct and destroy their eagerness to learn.  Our goal is to positively encourage, make it a fun environment, and build their skills gradually, at their pace.

Little kids will be taught:

  • Basic kicking and punching
  • Self-defense (working with another classmate)
  • Tae Kwon Do Stances
  • Weapon (bo-staff) – hand eye coordination
  • Judo rolls (learn how to roll properly in Judo style)
  • Pad Sparring (hand eye coordination, controlling and understanding own body, understanding movements) – sparring will be always light contact, strictly work on techniques
  • Fitness Strength training (Push-ups, crunches, sit-ups, leg raises and jumping jacks)

Youth Program Focus (7-12 year old)

Youth kids are very high energy and Instructors at Park’s Tae Kwon Do understand how important it is to give them the very best training without having them burn out or overly train their body.  Youth classes are focused on increasing fitness levels and coordination, becoming more precise and detailed with their techniques, and more exposure to higher level techniques.  Same as with our Little Kids class our Instructors are always focused on teaching based on the childs comfort level within a fun and positive environment.

Developmental Improvement

Some parents are grateful to Master Park for helping with issues such as sensory integration, learning disability, and epilepsy. Tae Kwon Do exercises the mind and the body and can help children overcome difficulties in all areas of life. A frequent quote: “Master Park helped my child.” Expect your child to become stronger and more coordinated within the first few months.
